Why Care Packages?

As an educator, I have often kept in contact with several of my former students when they moved on to college. Because of this, many of them have been the recipient of care packages that I've sent just to put a smile on their faces. (I remember being away at college myself. Anytime I received something in the mail: letter, junk mail, etc., it brought a smile to my day!) Thus began my hobby. Over the years, I have expanded my care package delivery to neighbor kids, nieces & nephews, & even military personnel.

Several of the recipients of my care packages have often told me that I should open a business. After several years of brainstorming the idea, I decided to take the plunge. However, I wanted my business to have an underlying purpose. I found that......

Always having a soft spot for children's charities, I decided to venture into the care package business with part of the profits going to a variety of charities. Each month I will select a charity that is dear to my heart. The charity will receive 15% of all sales for the entire month. It will be a little way for me to share my hobby as well as send a little cheer to deserving recipients: the reciever as well as the chosen charity!

Chosen Charity

This month's chosen charity is.........

The Milk Money Project is a division of New Day Foster Home in China. The program provides various orphanages in China with formula for the babies in their care. Used to be the enrollment in the program benefited 50-60 children a month. However, the program now provides over 1,000 bags of formula for over 130 infants a month. Therefore, the needs have increased dramatically.

What Makes up a Package?

Each pacakge that is prepared for shipping is unlike any others. I have never made two packages the same. I love packing each box with a variety of goodies. Depending on the location of the package destination often determines what goes in each care package. (Obviously in the summer I do not send chocolate in the packages.) Often when I send college care packages I send a lot of candy, popcorn, & easy microwaveable items. If sending to a military person, I will sometimes include playing cards, chapstick, etc.

Pictured above are examples of care packages that were recently sent to college students. Some of the goodies that I have included in previous packages are: Popcorn, Hard Candy, Sunflower Seeds, Candy Bars, M&M's, Bubble Gum, Cookies, Lollipops, Potato Chips, etc. You would be quite surprised how much "junk" I stuff in each box. Besides the major goodies, I finish packing each box - not with packing peanuts, but MORE candy (such as individual pieces of Jolly Ranchers, Life Savers, Bubble Gum, Tootsie Rolls, etc.).

Each care package is $45.00 which includes priority shipping & delivery confirmation using the United States Postal Service. All packages are shipped within 24 hours of payment. (Currently only accepting Paypal.) If interested in ordering a care package, please contact: packagedwithcare@gmail.com
